SARS EasyFile/E@syFile - Tax Return generation

Confused by SARS's new employee's Tax annual reporting requirements?
Do the simplified requirements by SARS for your annual Tax File, Tax Certificates, and Tax Reconciliation raise more questions than answers?
And having got into the program, do you know where to start with the preparation of your Employee Tax Return which includes the Reconciliation Declaration (EMP501), Tax File and printing of the Tax Certficates (IRP5).
Note that SARS brings out a new version of EasyFile every so often...... which in programming is understandable, and more often than not in rather quick succession to fix bugs in the previous version. The problem is that Employers have to download a new program file at least every 6 months, which is quite large (70 MB's), in order to generate the latest Tax Return.
You can contact the SARS call-centre at 0860 12 12 18 and you are guaranteed to only be frustrated

STEPS TO GENERATE YOUR TAX RETURN.

Generating your Tax Return via SARSís EasyFile program involves the following 3 basic steps.

1) ENTER YOUR PAYROLL INCOME & TAX DATA.
In the "IMPORT - Import Payroll File" menu option, import from your Payroll program the Income and Tax data for all your employees.
+ EasyFile will generate error messages until this information satisfies all itís requirements, which can be checked in the "UTILITIES - Utilities - Import Payroll File Log" menu option.
+ In the "EMPLOYEE ADMIN - View/Edit Employees" menu option, can the uploaded information be edited, or Income and Tax information of employees not in the payroll program be manually entered.

2) ENTER PAYMENTS TO SARS & DO RECONCILIATION.
Obtain the amounts of PAYE, UIF and SDL paid to SARS over the applicable period, and enter it into the "RECONCILIATION - Declaration" menu option.
+ Clicking on the "Self-Assess" button, EasyFile will compare the amounts due from Step 1, with the amounts entered in Step 2, and display any differences. The implication being that if the Employer had short paid, would the difference be due to SARS.
+ Once you are happy with the results, click on the "Ready to File" button which will set the information up for the next step.
+ You may now be able to print your Reconciliation Declaration (EMP501).

3) GENERATE TAX FILE & REPORTS.
In the "SUBMISSION - Submit to SARS" menu option, will the encrypted file be generated, which is saved to your computer, and which can be submitted to SARS by either ..
+ uploading via eFiling, or
+ delivering to a SARS office (accompanied by a printout of your EMP501 generated by EasyFile containing all the information above, and signed by a representative of the Employer ... not applicable since 2012)

If EasyFile had generated the file correctly, and it had been submitted to SARS, can you consider your obligation iro. your Tax Return complied with.

Lastly, print your IRP5/IT3aís Tax Certificates to give to your employees.
